Hothead Games Mobile Titles (2019–2020)

In 2019, I joined Hothead Games to contribute to Super Hit Baseball, collaborating closely with the Lead Artist and Lead UI Designer to inject a bold, arcade-inspired cartoon aesthetic into the game’s UI and art assets. My responsibilities included designing iconography, player profile artwork, and marketing-focused visuals as part of a broader refresh of the studio’s Big Win Sports Idle branding.

A unique aspect of working at Hothead was the opportunity to design within a self-publishing pipeline, which gave me first-hand experience collaborating with the analytics department. I refined my thumbnail iteration process to incorporate real player data, ensuring that each design choice supported visibility, user retention, and monetization goals. A notable case was the App Store Game Icon, where multiple data-informed iterations were tested to optimize engagement.

Following the success of Super Hit Baseball, I was given the opportunity to take on a larger role for Bullseye Battle. Partnering with the Lead Designer, I spearheaded much of the UI/UX development while ensuring alignment with the studio’s refreshed cartoon aesthetic. This step up in responsibility allowed me to own larger parts of the design pipeline, from concept to execution.

The result was a successful launch in early 2020, with the title achieving strong performance in its first week — over 500K downloads and ranking in the Top 25 sports games on iOS. Together, these projects marked a turning point in my career—transitioning from supporting roles to leading UI/UX initiatives at a major studio.
